Here is a controversial personality with an unquestionable lifework. Rainer Werner Fassbinder [1945–1982] who described himself as a “romantic anarchist” and provoked so many scandals with his leather-jacket-and-faded-jeans lifestyle and, of course, mainly with his films has in the twenty-five years since his death grown into a classic of movie history. He spent a good fifteen years of his short life in an obsession of the motion picture of which he produced more than forty. Thirteen of his most important feature films, plus Berlin, Alexanderplatz, the movie regarded by many as his chef-d’oeuvre will be screened in the nine days of the Fassbinder Festival organized jointly by the Cirko Film – In Another Way Foundation and the Budapest Autumn Festival.

The EDIT International Dance Festival is being organized for the fourth time, a clear indication of the fact that this special genre with long traditions is very much alive and in full health in the early 21st century. This year, too, the festival conjures up the past while also offering a selection of the best works of recent years and inviting the most outstanding representatives of this field of art from Hungary and abroad. Visitors can see the winning entries of the first dance film competition announced by the National Cultural Foundation in 2007, some of the most exciting Hungarian, Polish and Slovak creations, as well as works by young European artists of the international network, Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes.
Supported by Motion Picture Public Foundation of Hungary | Slovak Institute | Polish Institute | Toldi Cinema | Budapest Kitchen | Central House of Photography – Slovakia, KinoTanca Foundation – Poland | Pépinières européennes pour jeunes artistes
