“It is not the story that interests me in the theatre. And I am not interested in the so-called thoughts either. They are the domain of literature and philosophy. What interests me in the theatre is the system of relations that arises between the living bodies. The movement of the living body. Which, of course, always tells some kind of story and a thought may also be squeezed out of the story.” It is as though the performances created by Krisztián Gergye, also known as a choreographer and dancer, transplant into practice the theatrical ideal of Péter Nádas. His latest production turns the spotlight on Péter Nádas’s drama trilogy [Cleaning–Meeting–Burial]. The second and third pieces of the trilogy are staged in two different performances, but the interpretation is based on the entire trilogy. Meeting is presented in the Bárka Theatre in a purely prose form but with live musical accompaniment and makes extensive use of the means of mime theatre.
A joint production of Bárka Theatre, Budapest Autumn Festival, MU Theatre and Krisztián Gergye Company.
