Films in original language with English surtitles and Hungarian simultaneous interpretation.

The representation of sexuality on film is as old as cinematic art itself and, in somewhat simplified terms, its history took two courses right from the start. One is pornography, where the sexual act is merely an end in itself for the filmmakers; the other is that of films where physical contact between two persons is an integral part of the film, shaping its form. Making it art. The latter course is the focus of the film festival organised jointly by the Cirko Film – Másképp Foundation and the Budapest Autumn Festival. Selecting from the newest films from seven countries, the festival gives a glimpse into the highly varied artistic forms used in the portrayal of sexuality on film.
A joint programme with the Cirko Film – Másképp Foundation.

EDIT, the dance film festival launched by the Workshop Foundation and the Budapest Autumn Festival, is held with a programme that becomes more interesting every year. The board, this year for the first time composed largely of international experts, has compiled a colourful programme for this anniversary year. The members of the board are not only editors of the festival but also active guests. Besides the latest crop of dance films from the United States, Israel and Great Britain, new Hungarian dance films of the last two years will be shown in a separate block. The opening event on all three days of the festival will be In the Barbakán, a work by Mariann Gaál first shown last year, with musicians and singers providing a new live accompaniment. EDIT2009 will also pay tribute to Pina Bausch, one of the great figures of 20th century dance, who died this year.
